There are many reasons for joining a registered non profit arts council who has been operating continuously for over 41 years!
It is our intention to help shape the future of the arts in Richmond and you can help us do it by becoming a member, thereby supporting us and the arts. Whether you are an artists or not, you can still benefit by volunteering. By volunteering not only are you giving back to your community and the arts, but you are also promoting yourself at the same time.
Since closing our Artisans' Galleria we no longer have a home base, rather we operate as a board, continuing to pursue our long standing mandate of supporting the arts, artists and artisans in our community.
So while we no longer have a location where our members can exhibit and sell their work, we still plan to be as active as possible. Of course the degree to which this is done. will depend greatly upon our members.
We understand that everyone has busy lives these days and many people, while well intentioned, just can't always commit to being able to "be there" for us when we need them.
To that end, this year we have changed our membership structure. We are encouraging mature students to join us, and offering a special student membership fee.
We are hoping to entice students interested in or studying various art disciplines to join with us to create a solid foundation for the future of art in Richmond. This student membership also entitles them to have their own web page where they can show everyone what they are learning, creating and wishing.
In addition we have a support category at a lower rate than the participating membership. This level of membership is perfect for those who wish to support the arts and ourselves in our endeavors, and for those who are not artists or who do not wish to showcase their work and therefore do not need the added bonus of having their own website page on our website, this lower rate will still keep them up to date and informed of what is going on in the arts community and be notified in advance of any events, exhibitions etc. that we are having.
We also have a group and corporate rate.
This is for any size of group or company. This level of membership also has their own page, which they can control, update and change as necessary for them. It can link to their own website and their own website back to us. This in and of itself will show browsers that they support the arts and give them more exposure.
In addition, for the group/corporate membership, each of them will be featured for one month during the membership year on our front page.
They can let us know what they would like us to feature such as a special event etc. and we will do our best to work with them to do their feature at the appropriate time.
PARTICIPATING ARTIST CATEGORY:
This is for artists who join with the intention of exhibiting currently or in the future at various exhibitions and events. They also have access to their very own web page that they can control, update and change as they wish. This includes a decision on whether or not they want to publish their email address, location, price of goods and any other contact information, just like their own personal web page. This can also link to any existing website they may already have, giving extra exposure.
They are able to upload new photos of their work, change their profile, list any events they may be exhibiting at or attending, courses they may be teaching and in general use this page to promote themselves and what they are doing.
They also receive preferential acceptance for our events and exhibitions as well the general benefits. We are asking for this membership's input as to what they would like to see us do in the future and the Board will do it's best to work with these members to achieve these goals where possible.
LIFE TIME MEMBERSHIP:
We can now announce that we have just added a Life Time member group for individuals, groups and companies. This is a great savings for those who believe that they will continue to renew their membership each year. By signing up for a Lifetime membership, you can forget about having to renew each year and never having an increase in the fee to belong.
We will keep track of you and send you any necessary information should the need arise, and as a Lifetime member you will have all the privileges of all of the categories.
YOUR MEMBERSHIP WILL:
At any membership level, assist us in providing arts exhibits and events for the enjoyment and benefit of the community.
- Be given a profile page.
- Give exposure to local artists of all levels including emerging and mature.
- Be kept informed of upcoming exhibitions and events through our E-mail newsletter.
- Be able to participate by volunteering in a variety of events.
- Enter exhibitions and events at no charge!
- For participating and group/corporate members, your own web page and the other benefits listed above.
And finally, help us make a difference in the lives of artists and artisans of all disciplines, ensuring a bright future for the arts in Richmond and by extension, the Metro Vancouver area
Our membership year is from October 1 - September 30 of each year. Our new membership application form is available for download and can be found on the fee structure page along with the membership levels and associated fees.
