Artist
Roger graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Education; double Art major. He painted with oils and acrylics and then moved to watercolours. This medium continues to be his main focus today. Painting took a backseat for awhile as Roger pursued his other passion, education. He has always had a love of learning. With a Masters and Doctorate in Educational Administration his path took him to Powell River, B.C. and then to Campbell River, B.C., a stunningly beautiful seaside community on Vancouver Island, where he now resides. Roger’s travel adventures to Mexico, Europe, Vancouver Island, the Northern Gulf Islands, and home provide an abundance of ideas from which to create and paint. Steveston, B.C. has some special places of inspiration. With his sketch book, watercolours, and camera in hand he is out and about --- or at home painting in his studio.

Glass Artist and Designer
Ric has spent his life working with his hands. After experimenting with borosilicate (boro) glass with a flame he was soon creating the most astonishingly beautiful glass beads. As a result, no two beads are exactly alike, as each has their own unique quality. Next he began creating jewellery using his hand crafted beads and his own hand formed sterling silver findings. He found that by electroplating the sterling silver with Palladium (a metal from the Platinum family) any allergic reaction to the sterling silver was virtually eliminated as was the tarnishing effect of silver. His hand crafted jewellery designs are the result of his quest to create simple, elegant and unique wearable glass art.

Artist
A resident of Steveston for 20 years, Billie became interested in art as a child, but her artistic "messes" were not encouraged by her mother. Many years later, following a car accident she rediscovered her love for painting. Mainly self-taught, she began with sketching, and is now working with watercolour. She has great passion for this work and her bright colours are an an expression of the happiness and joy that she feels while she is creating.

Pottery
Following retirement from 47 years of nursing, Rona decided it was time to persue her life long ambition to create pottery "just for fun". It soon became all consuming. She initially took classes from Maureen Wright for 2 years and from Freddi Rahn at the Shadbolt Centre for the arts for one year. An active member of the BC Potters guild and Aberthou potters club, she also continues to take many workshops and classes to help her get the best from the clay. Rona prefers to do hand building and sculpting but does try her hand at the wheel on occassion. She "pots" when and wherever she can, even if it means that dinner is late due to a lump of clay on the counter. Mostly she just loves to "play in the mud" and thus the light hearted spirit shows in her work. Rona is also a willing volunteer for our many opening receptions and other events.
