Born in Toronto, Douglas has lived in Vancouver since 1995. In 2000 he began his hobby of etching glass. Mainly self-taught, he likes to use recycled materials that would have been destined for the landfill. His work is done by hand using a variable speed drill with diamond tip bits. He does not use lasers, sand, chemicals or stencils, therefore, each piece is one of a kind.
Using salvaged materials creates pieces which contain flaws that are unique to each item and contribute to the look and beauty of the finished product.

Born in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and a former resident of North Vancouver, Bruce and his wife moved to Texada Island after visiting it on a camping trip. That was 17 years ago and they now live in a house that Bruce built, including the recently completed studio, that they both work out of. He lives with his wife Fran, who is a glass bead maker working under the name Beadzerk!
Bruce is a self taught glass artist, but obviously artistic. He chooses to create pieces that are both whimsical and functional. He uses Eco-friendly wood for the frames of his windows and racks and each fused glass piece, whether an ornament, night light, window, towel rack or something else, combines dozens of glass components before the item is finished.
Bruce loves what he creates and it shows!
