Art From the Heart
2010-04-26
We are pleased to present the 2nAnnual "Unique Art Show" now titled
ART FROM THE HEART
We expect to have at least 50 different works of art in this exciting exhibition, and encourage everyone to make a point of stopping by to view it. This work will also be available for sale with the proceeds going directly to the artists.
The difficulties that these artists face on a daily basis make this work a joy to see! In addition, this is the only exhibition where they can both show and sell their work in a main stream gallery setting. This leads to an increase in self worth, hope and abilities, in turn encouraging them to continue to develop their artistic skills.
Some of the paintings take a year to complete, while other participants may exhibit more than one piece. This year they will also present some of their crafts which were also created in the Avenue workshop,
thereby expanding their work and exposure and giving the public more to view and purchase.
The official opening reception will take place on Sunday May 30th between 1 – 4, where there will be an opportunity to speak with the artists in attendance and have refreshments.
Last year we were fortunate to have Mayor Malcolm Brodie, MLA’S John Yap and Linda Reid and city of Richmond councilor Bill Nulty attend the opening, which for many of the participants was a big highlight and helped to create a sense of inclusion.
We urge everyone to view and support this unique, free exhibition which will be held daily 10 - 5 from May 26 – June 27 from 10 – 5 at the ARTISANS’ GALLERIA, 3651 Moncton St. in the heart of Steveston Village, Richmond.
Kids Helping Kids
2010-03-07
The children attending the Arts Connection’s Renaissance Academy Kindergarten and Paddington Station Pre-Kindergarten can all feel very proud!
They created over 80 pieces of art, selling them Sunday March 7th, at a reception and sale at the Artisans’ Galleria in Steveston. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the ongoing relief effort for the children in Haiti.
Thanks must also go to the Community Arts Council of Richmond who donated their Artistans’ Galleria and staff to host this gallery show, reception and sale. Hats off also to Alexa and Ben Falk and Bianca Hayashi who stepped in to look after the refreshment table and serve coffee, punch and cookies to those who attended.
This was a wonderful way for these little ones to express their empathy and concern for others in the world, and their teachers did a wonderful job of assisting them with this project.
Remaining art will stay on display and be for sale at the Artisans’ Galleria until March 14th, so if you were not able to attend on Sunday, you have another chance to support these children and this worthwhile cause!
Kids Helping Kids
2010-02-22
We will partner with the Arts Connection’s Renaissance Academy kindergarten and Paddington Station pre-kindergarten in producing a short exhibition called “KIDS HELPING KIDS”
The children attending these classes wanted to do something to help the children in Haiti suffering following the earthquake disaster. They have created works of art that will be sold and all proceeds will be sent to the relief effort for Haitian children.
The work will be on display at the Artisans’ Galleria in historic Steveston Village beginning March 1st and will be available for purchase on March 7th at a reception between 12:30 – 4:00.
This is a wonderful way for these little ones to express their empathy and concern for others in the world. Please show your interest, support and appreciation by taking the time to view these unique works of art and their very first official gallery show and sale.
OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY SPECIAL PROJECT

We want to thank Canadian Heritage for their grant and assistance in allowing us to produce this major project as well as the many volunteers who gave of their valuable time to help make this happen. Of course, this would not be happening were it not for the children themselves, and their families, who also gave of their time to create the shirts.
The Artisans' Galleria is located in historic Steveston at 3651 Moncton St. and is open 10 - 5 daily. Just look for the bright red window with shirts in it, and while you are visiting the exhibition be sure and take time to see all the fabulous items created by artist members. The quality is high and the prices are reasonable and every time you make a purchase you are helping to support both the Community Arts Council of Richmond but also the artist or artisan who created the piece. We thank you for your patronage and remembering to shop with us every time you need to purchase a special gift.

klasses for kids
The Arts Connection in Steveston Village has generously offered us the space and materials to be able to hold these classes. The Friday evening classes will take place at their location at 12191 First Ave in Steveston Village and Saturday morning classes will be at their music school in Minato Village at No. 1 road and Steveston Hwy.
We begin with Pizza & Picasso for kids, on alternate Friday evenings for 2 age groups, 5 –7 yr. begins Sept 25 and 8 – 10 years, starts Oct 2. Each class is for six weeks and lasts two hours and will start at 6 and end
at 8.
A win win situation, because parents get a couple hours for some alone or away from the kids time, and the children get pizza, pop and a chance to explore their creativity.
Everything is included in this 6 weeks course, materials, food, and artistic and creative environment and professional art instructors. While they will be exploring some of the masters, this will also be a fun class with a variety of projects.
Next, The Art of Drawing and Painting for 11 years old and up on Saturday mornings from 10 – noon. Here they will be guided by a variety of talented Richmond Artists. Drawing and Painting doesn’t just have to be on canvas or paper. How about painting on a rock, or wood as well as more conventional methods and mediums. The week following the end of the class they will have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting on December 12th, complete with an opening reception where friends, family and the public can view their work and enjoy refreshments!
The Gallery show will be held at our Artisans’ Galleria in Steveston Village.
So don’t wait, space is limited to allow lots of attention for each child.
you can download a registration form from this site or call 604-241-0141 to register.
