Grants
For many years the Community Arts Council of Richmond was in a position to give out grants to other registered charities in the arts community.

This was possible as a result of our previous ability to generate income through our various dance, art, music programs and classes, held at the art center as well as a bequest, which was received several years ago.

We have not been able to offer classes since we had to move from the location at the art center. The bequest was carefully invested, and the interest from this investment was used to continue to issue grants following our move several years ago.

With the turn of the economy, our interest rate has been cut by more than half, resulting in very little interest income. The interest income that is received must be used to allow us to continue to operate the Artisans’ Galleria and hold exhibitions and shows.

Even so, we find ourselves in the position of having to apply for grants ourselves, from the City of Richmond and the Provincial government in order to continue to exist. Currently we are waiting for word on our provincial grant application and in the mean while, funds are extremely tight and there is no extra money for grants to other organizations.

We truly hope that this will reverse itself in the future as the economy improves and our plan for sustainability is put into place. We welcome support and sponsorship from other sources and are grateful for those who have and are currently supporting us.
